Caucasian rugs are generally characterised by bold, strongly geometric patterns and vibrant colour and have long been collected because of their great artistic qualities. 

The Victoria and Albert Museum in London acquired the greater part of their entire Caucasian collection in the 1880’s and Caucasian rugs gave inspiration to much 20th century abstract art.

Many of these patterns involve variations on a theme like this beautifully composed arrangement of differently coloured stylised ‘blossom’ motifs in the field.
