Tradition has it that the art of tapestry weaving, practised in antiquity by the Greeks and in the middle east, was introduced to France as early as the 8th century. Only in the workshops of Aubusson does it appear to have survived through to the middle ages. This reproduction of an early 19th century empire Aubusson, which traditionally covered the floors of the grand houses and castles of France, has been made using the finest contemporary materials blended so as to best match the originals in colour and style. This refined production was started in China by Berdji Andonian from New York.
