This small rug with an ivory field of small boteh motifs was made in response to a demand for such ‘Persian’ style rugs on the western market. Sivas is a township outside Kayseri in central Turkey where, in the early part of last century, a cottage industry flourished and rug design often echoed the popular taste of the day.
It is a well made and very decorative small rug.
