The Caucasus is a melting pot of different tribal and ethnic groups. Prominent amongst the rug weavers are the Azeri Turks, the Armenians, the Kurds and the Talish.

Caucasian rugs are generally characterised by bold, strongly geometric patterns and vibrant colour.  They have long been collected because of their great artistic qualities. The Victoria and Albert Museum in London acquired the greater part of their entire Caucasian collection in the 1880’s and Caucasian rugs gave inspiration to much 20th century  abstract art.
