Isparta carpet
from western Turkey
early 20th century
Size: 476 x 362 cm

In the early part of the 20th century much of the commercial, cottage industry production in western Turkey was centred on two townships, Ushak and Isparta.
Roomsize carpets from the looms in these towns and surrounding villages, often featuring Persian medallion design, were exported in great numbers to cover European and American floors.
